The Big Horn Sheep is my husband's favorite animal. I'm not really sure. Through our adventures to the far west of the Mississippi River, we've encountered Big Horn Sheep in Arizona, Nevada, and Montana. It's been really awesome. Sometimes we've even come as close to these animals in the wild within touching distance. That's probably a little precarious, though.
As we've followed and observed these amazing creatures, I've found they are not lone creatures and they have incredible climbing abilities. What probably fascinates me most is their ability to climb very steep, treacherous mountains very quickly, with such great agility and what looks like ease. God created them this way.
Wherever we've seen these creatures, it is always on steep mountains. This made me think about a Christian's walk with God. We all face mountains in our lives. Some of those mountains are very challenging obstacles that seem insurmountable.
These animals have incredible eyesight, hearing, a great sense of smell. Their feet are designed for them to scale steep, rocky terrain quickly to get away from predators. Also, when these animals confront their enemies, they do it head on. Their horns, as well as their great sense of sight and hearing help them combat against their enemies.
As Christians, our weapons of warfare is the Word of God, the Bible. As we grow in the Lord, mature, be strengthened and built up in the God, God makes those insurmountable mountains in our lives able to be easily tackled.
By easy, I'm not saying literally it will be easy. But, when we have the Lord on our side, walking with God with no sin hindering us, stepping out in faith, God gives us the ability to be able to walk on water, command the dead to rise to new life, to heal the sick, make the lame walk and the blind to see.
Let's be like the Big Horn Sheep, ready to climb those mountains with grace and agility!
